Ransford Brempong, Director of Training
WCT Hoops is dedicated to helping both young and old learn the game of basketball through the mentorship and guidance of Ransford Brempong and other high level coaches .
Ransford's basketball career started in Gr.9 when he was cut from his highschool team. The disappointment of not making the cut, and the desire to prove those that overlooked him wrong, would be all the motivation needed to fuel him throughout his career. He would spend countless hours in the gym dedicating to his craft. The hardwork eventually led to career that spanned 20+ years with the ball in his hand. He would go on to receive a full ride scholarship to Western Carolina University where he played D1 NCAA Basketball for 5 years. He also had the honour of representing his country as a member of the Canadian Senior Men’s National Team. Ransford's National Team career spanned a total of 8 years under many great coaches in Leo Rautins, Mike Malone (Denver Nugget Head Coach), and Dave Smart.

Professionally he played in Germany and Holland's top leagues for 6 years where he experienced success. He was twice named to the All-star team in Holland, as well as leading the league in Blocks & Rebounds. He was named Dutch League Defensive Player of The Year, and All-First League by the coaches in the 2006. After being away from the game for 6 years, Ransford came out of retirement in Jan. 2018 at the age of 37 and played for the St. John's Edge in Newfoundland, Canada. He then went on to play one season for the Vancouver Bandits in the CEBL at the age of 39.

Rans is a student of the game who has now transferred the knowledge he gained from his playing career into his coaching and training. Having played at the highest levels he understands the importance of Dedication, the Attention To Details, and Hardwork needed to get the most out of an athlete. There are no shortcuts! Ransford continues to curate an environment for the next generation that's needed for success.
Ransford currently resides in Deep Cove, North Vancouver, with his wife Felicity and their three kids, Quentin, Kya, and Moses. He looks forward to continue to add value to the ever growing basketball community.
